With dark pine trees in the background, and forest decoration surrounding it, this original Black Forest House Cuckoo Clock, with its hip roof design, depicts life in the Forest. The creatures of the Forest creep forward to try to steal some food from the feeding trough. The wood case is decorated with framework and tiny windows with shutters, curtains and geraniums in flower boxes. The solid-wood cuckoo calls the number of the hour on every full hour (e.g. 3:00 p.m. or 3:00 a.m. 3 times) and once on the half-hour. This clock has a manual night switch off. Clockface, numbers and hands are all made of wood. The mechanical clockwork runs for a week. This classic model is crafted by the August Schwer company in Schönwald, a family business that has been around since 1885.
