The story of Heidi from author Johanna Spyri is one of the most favorite stories worldwide. The story of the orphan girl Heidi, that lives with her grandpapa in the swiss alps touches hearts everywhere. The swiss chalet design with its filigree wooden overlays and beautiful roof trimming has many lovingly crafted details, including the whole mountain family including the goat shepherd, Peter and his goat. Miniature, rounded lattice windows with red heart shutters and little flower boxes, as well as a depicted stone wall of wood and handcarved pine trees complete the beautiful picture. A special eye-catcher is the little swiss folklore girl as pendulum, which swings back and forth to the time. The cuckoo opens the door at the full hour, "tweets", and calls with Echo, telling the number of the hour. After the cuckoo call, one of the 12 alternating melodies plays.  The clock has a manual night switch off, and also a light sensor to automatically turn off the cuckoo  and music sound when it is dark. The Quartz battery clockwork is run by three 1,5V Size C batteries that are delivered with the clock. The clock comes in an original box with complete instructions.  This clock model is produced by the Trenkle company in Simonswald, a family business that has been around for the last 50 years, and prides itself in combining the traditional handcrafting with new technical developments.
