This original Black Forest cuckoo clock with a carved chalet roof features wheat beer in a Munich beer garden with musicians. The wooden cuckoo calls out the number of hours on the hour (e.g., 3 times at 3:00 p.m.) and once on the half hour. The two men drink beer while the cuckoo calls. After the cuckoo call, one of the two melodies sounds every hour, accompanied by the turning of the water wheel and the dancers on the balcony dressed in Black Forest costumes. This model has a manual night shut-off. The dial, numbers, and hands are also made of wood. The mechanical striking mechanism runs for one week. This Bavarian friendship clock is manufactured by Hekas in Schonach, which was founded in 1938 by Helmut Kammerer and is now in its third generation of “tradition in perfection.”
