This original Black Forest cuckoo clock with a carved Black Forest hipped roof and bell tower is embodied in a solidly carved forest house. The wooden case is stained walnut with carved indentations and a wooden wall. A balcony, arched lattice windows with shutters, and a bay window further adorn the wooden case. Carved fir trees stand to the side of the house, providing a home for forest animals. A hunter adorns the front of the forest lodge. The wooden cuckoo calls the number of hours on the hour (e.g., 3 times at 3:00 p.m.) and once on the half hour. After the cuckoo call, one of the two melodies sounds every hour. The water wheel turns and the hunter moves his walking stick up and down. Couples dressed in traditional costumes dance on the balcony. This model has an automatic night shut-off. The dial, numbers, and hands are also made of wood. The mechanical striking mechanism runs for one week. This cuckoo clock is delivered in its original box with instructions for use. This forest house is manufactured by the Hönes company in Titisee, which is deeply rooted in the centuries-old tradition of clockmaking and stands for Black Forest craftsmanship.
