Rudi's Schnitzstube presents this original Black Forest cuckoo clock, a house with a shingled hipped roof, dormers, bell tower, and chimney. Fir trees and colorful flowers grow in the flower beds around the property. The wooden case is stained walnut and features lattice windows and painted shutters. The wooden cuckoo calls the number of hours on the hour (e.g., 3 times at 3 p.m.) and once on the half hour. After the cuckoo call, one of the two melodies sounds every hour. This model has an automatic night shut-off. The dial, numerals, and hands are also made of wood. The mechanical rack striking mechanism runs for one week. This ensemble is manufactured by the Hönes company in Titisee, which is deeply rooted in the centuries-old tradition of clockmaking and stands for Black Forest craftsmanship.
