The wooden cuckoo calls the number of hours on the hour (e.g., 3 times at 3 p.m.) and once on the half hour. The dial, numbers, and hands are made of wood, just like the entire house and the figures. The mechanical striking mechanism has a running time of one week. This model has an automatic night shut-off.

This original Black Forest cuckoo clock is manufactured by August Schwer in Schönwald, an owner-operated family business founded in 1885.
