This neat Black Forest courtyard with bell tower surrounded by spruce trees has windows with green shutters decorated with curtains and with geraniums in balcony boxes. The balcony and the lower fascia are decorated with half-timbering in this clock. On the gable of the house hang hand saws and on the left above the fountain hangs the one that is currently in use. From this and the stacked freshly sawn wood and the butter churns on the right by the ladder, you can see that a hardworking person lives here. But in front of the house there is also a bench for resting. At the moment, however, no one is to be seen, and so a rabbit has ventured out of the forest.
The solid-wood cuckoo calls the number of the hour on every full hour (e.g. 3:00 p.m. or 3:00 a.m. 3 times) and once on the half-hour. This clock has a manual night switch off. Clockface, numbers and hands are all made of wood. The mechanical clockwork runs for a week. This classic model is crafted by the August Schwer company in Schönwald, a family business that has been around since 1885.
