The world-famous children's story, "Heidi", about a little orphan girl who grew up in the alps of Switzerland, is featured on this original Black Forest cuckoo clock.  Heidi enjoys the mountain farm with her grandfather and her goat-shepherd friend, Peter, as well as the faithful St. Bernhard "Josef". The beautifully handcrafted chalet is lovingly decorated with carved and painted pine trees, with miniature lattice windows with heart shutters, balconies and flower boxes. The housefront is a natural wood color, and the bottom is decorated with a depicted gray stone wall made of wood. The solid-wood cuckoo calls the number of the hour on every full hour (e.g. 3:00 p.m. or 3:00 a.m. 3 times) and once on the half-hour. This clock has a manual night switch off. Clockface, numbers and hands are all made of wood. The mechanical clockwork runs for 24 hours. The clock comes in an original box with complete instructions and a VdS certificate.  This clock model is produced by the Trenkle company in Simonswald, a family business that has been around for the last 50 years, and prides itself in combining the traditional handcrafting with new technical developments.
