Product info

This impressive original Black Forest Cuckoo Clock farmhouse depicts a horse-drawn wagon hauling logs, aided by a woodsman and his farm dog. The solid wood Black Forest farmhouse is stained in dark walnut, and covered on roof and top portion of the housefront with handcrafted and hand-mounted wooden shingles. Little wooden lattice windows with curtains and red heart shutters and flower boxes decorate the housefront above and below the balcony. A water wheel and a depicted white stone wall adorn the front of the house. Tall pine trees surround the house on both sides, and a rabbit hides between the trees as he sees that the farmer is coming. The solid-wood cuckoo calls the number of the hour on every full hour (e.g. 3:00 p.m. or 3:00 a.m. 3 times) and once on the half-hour. While the cuckoo calls, the Black Forest girl rings the bell in the bell tower. After the cuckoo call on the hour, one of the two alternating melodies plays, and the folklore dancing figurines move in time to the music from up on the balcony. This solid wood case has many small details that set it apart: the roof overhang, picture windows with shutters, curtains and flower boxes, as well as a garden fence.  This clock has a manual night switch off. Clockface, numbers and hands are all made of wood. The mechanical clockwork runs for a week. The clock comes in an original box with complete instructions and a VdS certificate. This classic model is crafted by the August Schwer company in Schönwald, a family business that has been around since 1885.
