"Family life on the farm" is the theme of this original Black Forest Cuckoo Clock with shingled hip roof and bell tower.  The children and the animals enjoy the relaxed atmosphere centered around the huge Black Forest farmhouse, which is surrounded by many lovingly handcrafted details.  At the housefront, a dog comes out of his doghouse to watch over the chickens and geese. The pigs are wallowing in their sty on the right side of the house, and a little cat is balancing itself on the balcony above it all. The cow looks on curiously from behind the water wheel on the left side of the house. The children are playing happily on the wooden bench, with a little bird looking on from his perch. Pine trees, fences, woodstacks, a wooden pitchfork and waterwheel complete the idyllic picture. Miniature lattic windows with checkered curtains and little green heart shutters adorn the housefront, whicvh also features both walnut-stained wood as well as balconies of natural wood color. The balconies are handcrafted with beautiful filigree woodwork. To the left and right of the cuckoo door are additional decorations typical of a Black Forest farmhouse. The bottom half of the housefront is in a half-timbered tudor look, providing a wonderful contrast to the darkly stained walnut of the rest of the clock. The solid-wood cuckoo calls the number of the hour on every full hour (e.g. 3:00 p.m. or 3:00 a.m. 3 times) and once on the half-hour. After the cuckoo call on the hour, one of the two alternating melodies plays. The dancing pairs in their folklore costumes dance to the music on the balcony above the cuckoo, and the waterwheel turns to the music. This clock has an automatic night switch off. Clockface, numbers and hands are all made of wood. The mechanical clockwork runs for a week. The clock comes in an original box with complete instructions and a VdS certificate. This classic model is crafted by the August Schwer company in Schönwald, a family business that has been around since 1885.
